6 Categories of Listening Distractions Overview

Eric Maddox discusses his background, how he developed Empathy-Based Listening and how this program can set you on the road to success.

The six categories of listening distractions: categories one through six. Category one, they're the least significant, that lower our listening the least. Category six, they're the big ones. They lower our listening the most. Here's what I need us to always know about these listening distractions. It's what bounds us to our stage, what distracts us in our mind. It what makes up our world on the scene in our movie. For us to ever be able to get on someone's stage, the first thing we must do is remove our listening distractions.

Categories one through six. Category one, immediate non-biased distractions. Category two, personal non-biased distractions. Category three, our lack of topic familiarity. Category four, our biases towards the individual that we're listening to. Category five, our goals, agendas, objectives. And category six, thinking about what we're going to say next in the conversation. Why don't we check out what we do to identify and address all six categories of distractions?
