The MFS® Charitable Giving Program and MFS employees have developed a powerful relationship with the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, one of the world’s most prominent and important cancer research and treatment centers. Together with our employees, MFS has raised millions of dollars for the Jimmy Fund.
Since 1999 we have been a major sponsor of the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC), a 192-mile bike ride from central Massachusetts to the tip of Cape Cod. The PMC is the nation’s oldest and most successful cycling fundraiser and has become the Jimmy Fund’s single largest fundraising event. During its 28-year history, the PMC has raised over $200 million for the Jimmy Fund. MFS’ sponsorship helps to enable 100% of the money raised by cyclists to go directly to cancer research and treatment.
Thanks to the efforts of 4,500 riders, the PMC sent a check for $38 million to Dana-Farber last year, the largest single donation ever made to the Institute. Through the annual participation of the MFS Team of riders and volunteers, our cumulative contribution to this cause since 1999 is nearly $5 million.
Since September 2004, MFS has also sponsored the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Phoenix, Arizona. Our employee team raised money to support the Komen Foundation, joining the more than 35,000 other participants last year.
As the dynamic face of cancer research and treatment changes over the coming years, MFS will continue to use our resources and efforts to support the battle against cancer.
