Michael A. Spalla

Michael A. Spalla is co-head of global trading and an equity trader with MFS Investment Management® (MFS®). In this role, he oversees all equity, equity-linked, single stock, and index derivative trading, and equity syndicate and origination across the regions, as well as the global commodity trading platform. Mike joined MFS in 2006 as an equity trader and was named team lead in 2020, before taking on his current role in 2026. Prior to joining the firm, he was a director of equity sales trading at Merrill Lynch & Co. Earlier in his career, Mike spent five years at Lehman Brothers, Inc., in both its equity sales and NASDAQ equity trading groups. He was also previously an OTC trader with Fidelity Capital Markets. He began his career in 1995. Mike earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College.
